ANNOUNCEMENT

Save the date!

The House of the Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the Indonesia-Pacific Parliamentary Partnership on Coastal and Maritime Development in Jakarta on 23-24 July 2018.

The Indonesian House invites parliamentarians from the Pacific Island nations to discuss and share best practices on Sustainable Coastal and Maritime Development. It will facilitate dialogue on best practices and policy analysis on specific issues including the potential of blue economy to increase sustainable development on marine resources, climate change adaption in Pacific, and building partnership for future development. It will guided by global commitment on sustainable development and climate change such as the SDGs and Paris Agreement.

Ocean plays significant role in both global economy and ecology. Over 3 billion people across the globe depend on marine and coastal resources creating economic opportunities in various sectors. Ocean, however, has also faced significant threats of climate change, marine pollution, and resource depletion. Nations and territories of the Pacific are among those that are likely to be most affected by the climate change and rising sea level.

Indonesia has had long and positive relations with the nations in the Pacific, and believe in the necessity to boost our economic, trade, and investment cooperation as well as social-cultural relations. Therefore, recognizing that sustainable management of marine resources and climate change are the most pressing environmental issues for the Pacific Islands nations, we initiate this forum as part of our commitment toward creating a stable and prosperous region.

Invitation letter and other details will be communicated soon. For further information, please contact us via Email: set_ksr@dpr.go.id or oprbksap@yahoo.com or via website www.ksap.dpr.go.id/ippp
