The SEAPAC Assembly Will Begin Tomorrow

Welcome to Medan! (The) General Assembly of the Southeast Asian Parliamentarians Against Corruption (SEAPAC) will commence tomorrow until 24th  October 2013 at the Aryaduta Hotel, Medan – North Sumatera.

 

This Assembly is organised by SEAPAC Indonesia, Indonesian GOPAC National Chapter (Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee of the House of Representatives of Indonesia (BKSAP-DPRRI)) and supported by the GOPAC, SAPAC, GOPAC Oceania, ARPAC, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, to name but a few.

 

And the theme of the Assembly was inspired by a growing sense of urgency to free Southeast Asia from corruption with its full theme of “Corrupt-free Southeast Asia: Common Goal, Common Action”.

 

We look forward to welcoming delegations from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Indonesia,

 

SEAPAC organizational meeting will officially commence its business on the first day of the Assembly with discussion on challenges ahead as we seek to establish national chapters as SEAPAC Constitution has explicitly mandated.

 

The General Assembly Highlights

·         Inspirational keynote speakers: (Dr. Pramono Anung Wibowo - Chairman of Indonesian GOPAC National Chapter, Mr. Djoko Suyanto - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mr. John Hyde, MP - Member of GOPAC Board of Directors, and Dr. Marzuki Alie - Chairman of SEAPAC).

·         Three sessions within two days of active discussion.

·         Featured presenters that will lead extended discussions which allow a deep dive into particular areas (Mr. Mohamad Sohibul Iman, Ph.D., Mr. Bambang Widjojanto, Mr. Anisul Islam Mahmud, Mr. Matthew F. Benson Lidholm, Mr. Ali Al Ansi, MP, Dr. (Hc) Siswono Yudo Husodo, MP, Dr. Nurhayati Ali Assegaf, MP, Datin Paduka Intan Kassim, Mr. Andi Anzhar Cakra Wijaya, MP, Mrs. Eva Kusuma Sundari, MP, Mr. Surachai LIENGBOONLERTCHAI, and Mr. Andrew Ellis).

On Wednesday join us for cultural dinner hosted by Dr. Marzuki Alie, Chairman of SEAPAC/Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and on Thursday evening, the dinner will be hosted by Mr. Gatot Pujo Nugroho, Governor of North Sumatera.
