Southeast Asian Parliamentarians Against Corruption

Quarterly Activity Report

(January – March 2014)

The Executive Committee of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), in last meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 2013, adopted a policy requiring all Regional Chapters to submit a Quarterly Activity Report to the Executive Committee at each of its quarterly meetings.

Relating to the matter, Southeast Asian Parliamentarians Against Corruption (SEAPAC) report the following information:

1.    Medan Declaration

Medan Declaration: Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Southeast Asia: Common Goals, Common Action was adopted at SEAPAC General Assembly in Medan, Indonesia on 23-24 October 2014. Some weeks after the Assembly, letter of SEAPAC Chairman was sent to all members of SEAPAC to ask some efforts to follow up implementation of the Declaration

2.    SEAPAC Website

SEAPAC regularly update its website at http://ksap.dpr.go.id/seapac concerning some information on parliamentary efforts to prevent corruption

3.    Building Contact

SEAPAC had built contact with Timor Leste GOPAC National Chapter and exchanges some ideas for workshops. However, since no budget contribution from members and no donor’s cooperation that generated budget, the ideas have not been explored. Report of SEAPAC General Assembly held in Medan was translated into Portuguese by Timor Leste National Chapter and it had been uploaded at the SEAPAC website

4.    Parliamentary Information Resources for Anti-Corruption Knowledge Program (not realized)

SEAPAC already proposed a project on Parliamentary Information Resources for Anti-Corruption Knowledge Program to the Executive Committee of GOPAC to provide database on anti-corruption measures established in Southeast Asian countries. Since the funding request was not granted by GOPAC, the programme was cancelled

5.    SEAPAC Distributed Information on GOPAC at IPU Assembly

Since no one from GOPAC Secretariat observed the IPU Assembly, SEAPAC helped distributed flier and other information about GOPAC at the 129th IPU Assembly in Geneva
