The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia would like to welcome HE. Dr. Jiko Luveni, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji and the delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji to the First Indonesia - Pacific Parliamentary Partnership (IPPP). As the host of the event, we sincerely hope that the Delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji's participation in the discussion over important issues of Blue Economy and Human Capital Development will be a valuable insight to further strengthen parliamentary partnership between Indonesia and the Pacific. 

"We are expecting Fiji to share her experience in the dynamics of the issues due to Fiji Presidency during the Conference of the State Parties 23 of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) last year," Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-parliamentary Cooperation of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dr. Nurhayati respond. 

The signing of MoU on Bilateral Friendship Group between the Parliament of Fiji and the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia on the margin of the World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development (WPFSD) last year in Bali has been instrumental in strengthening bilateral relations between the two parliaments. It is, therefore, Fiji’s participation in this year IPPP is significant to promote dialogue and expand cooperation on common interest.

The Parliament of the Republic of Fiji has extensive partnership with the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia. Both parliaments play significant role in the creation of women parliamentary forum of the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) which was formally adopted in the last APPF annual meeting January 2018. With Indonesia's  Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-parliamentary Cooperation, Dr. Nurhayati Ali Assegaf, Her excellency Speaker Mdm. Jiko Luveni co-chaired one of the plenary session of the 2017 World Parliamentary Forum on Sustainable Development held in Bali, Indonesia.
